The walk down memory lane was more painful than he would have ever admitted to Kelly. Sure, it was bitter-sweet, but at this moment, the bitter outweighed the sweet. As she approached a stop sign, she tried to press on the brake, but her foot wouldn't move. Mentally, she tried again to move her foot, even envisioned it moving, but physically, her body wouldn't cooperate. In seconds, she knew, as did Addi who was riding in the front passenger's seat, that something was terribly wrong. The sound of the crash into the car in front of her screamed the unwelcome truth.
Choosing happier memories, he thought of the day he asked her to marry him. Young, college graduates, they sat for hours dreaming of the future and of all the happy moments that were sure to come.
