My second question I have is why did the furious mob leave the jail? One possible reason why they left is because of Scout Finch. Scout individually spoke to Mr. Cunningham during the riot. Due to recognition from Scout, Mr. Cunningham feels he can be picked out from the group. If Mr. Cunningham did lynch Tom Robinson, he would definitely by punished as an individual because Scout saw him in the mob. My second reason that the mob left is because of Mr. Cunningham. Mr. Cunningham has a son named Walter who is friends with Scout. If he did kill Tom, he risks his own son finding out from Scout.
