The person I have chosen to interview is a part of the Pacific Islander Americans and the Asian Americans. She is Hawaiian on her father’s side and Korean on her mother’s side, while she does not have any brothers or sisters she does have a daughter whose father is Hawaiian. She has lived in Hawaii all her life until a few years ago and lived with her mother so she grew up with a blend of Hawaiian culture and Korean Culture.
The economic state of Hawaii where she grew up is made mostly of tourism, many people from around the world flock to Hawaii to see the beautiful beaches, the warm weather and to enjoy the unique culture Hawaii has to offer. According to the March 18th, 2018 Tourist Census there was a 12.3% incline of visitors from the year before making their total for that month 890,366 from international and domestic tourists. With this many defense personal on Hawaii’s islands they’ve started their own military newspapers, golf courses and special living for the stationed defense personal. The state of Hawaii has also primarily been run by Democrats the most interesting part of this is that Democrats have been in office for 40years for them before being represented by only one Republican U.S. Senator, Hiram Fong who represented the state from 1959 to 1977, where he was forced into retirement when the Democratic Party of Hawaii ended a Hawaii Republican Party headlock by voting most of the Republican party members out of office. While Hiram’s time in office wasn’t long he was mostly known as being a pusher for making Hawaii a state. Since Hiram’s removal of office democrats have had majority control of the office and is currently being represented by U.S. Senior Senator Brian Schatz, U.S. Junior Senator Mazie Hirono, U.S. Representative Colleen Hanabusa, and U.S. Representative Tulsi
