One example of when the constitution was amended, was when they added the twenty first amendment to eliminate the eighteenth amendment which did not allow the sale of alcohol. This addition to the constitution was important because it changed the constitution by adding another bill, allowed the sale of alcohol and it also allowed people to drink freely. The twenty-first amendment was added because it was during the prohibition period in 1933 which did not allow alcohol, but then the twenty first amendment repealed the prohibition in 1933 to allow alcohol (History 18th-and-21st-amendments). Another example was when the constitution added the nineteenth amendment and allowed women the right to vote and have equal rights as men. It was not until 1848 that the movement for women’s rights began and that women began to protest so that women could have equal right as men (History 19th-amendment). It was not unit 70 years of protesting and determination until women had equal rights that men had like voting, owning property if married, and claiming money (History 19th-amendment). These two bills that were added to the constitution had made a large impact, good and bad in the United States
