However, I believe that social media and local news can give us as a society an impression of the kind of person and race that are frequently wrongfully convicted, which is primarily African American men. For this reason, when I was looking for a story about my most recent ethical misconduct case, I wanted to avoid focusing on the injustice that African American men face on a daily basis. Thus, according to the Illinois State Bar Association, the most recent case involving ethical misbehavior occurred on March 19, 2024, when the Illinois Supreme Court penalized eight people and disbarred four others in a disciplinary filing. Since there are many instances of unethical behavior, I will start by discussing a case involving Mr. Allen, an attorney from St. Louis, Missouri, who admitted guilt to two counts of attempting to commit official misconduct while serving as an assistant state attorney for Coles County. Mr. Allen had solicited sexual actions from two criminal offenders by promising them better treatment in their cases in exchange for the sexual
