Ethnic Adoption America was first built by people who were not naturally born here, so why is there such a huge stigma about ethnic adoption? Children from other countries need just as much, and sometimes more help than a majority of orphaned children in America. Ethnic adoption should remain legal because it creates families, helps children in need, and brings more diversity to the country and individual families. One positive aspect of ethnic adoption is that it gives men and women who cannot have children of their own another chance to have a family (Saul). Some might argue that those people should adopt children from here in America, but orphanages in America have better resources and better environments than those in other countries. Most adopted foreign children have emotional problems, learning disabilities, and neurological problems that they cannot get help for because they have no one to take care of them (Saul). Lots of research has shown that young adult issues are largely overcome by adopted children (Hollinger). Being adopted is vital to grow out of their issues. “One hundred percent of our children are damaged in some way, emotionally or physically.” says Jacobs founder and director of Adopt International (Saul). Children are facing medical problems due to poor conditions and not being taken care of properly. They also have emotional needs as well as physical needs. Leticia Abarca from Saint Vincent de Paul Childrens Home says “We do our best, but there’s an emptiness only a family can fill” (“Home Alone”).
