Eudora Welty’s “A Worn Path” is an inspiring story about an elderly woman, Phoenix Jackson, who sets out to the town, in search of medicine for her grandson. Her grandson’s throat swells every so often because three years earlier, he had swallowed lye. She is relentless and decides to walk through the long journey to town in order to help her ailing grandson. However, on her way, she encounters several obstacles and achieves small victories. From the story, it is evident that her journey is a process that takes her through various stages.
