Reflection
Nursing procedures or interventions for one patient may differ, and they may be complicated thus requiring much involvement of nurses. Hence some intervention or procedures may appear to be easy, but in real practice, the resources required may make them to be more complex. The success of achieving favorable outcomes sometimes requires inter-professional care, teamwork, and assessment of factors that can influence the implementation of the intervention. Thus, I understood the reason why she experienced problems with recovery since wound healing is slow in patients with diabetes mellitus (Wong et al., 2015). Patient also said that prior to admission, she has not been using her anti-diabetic med because she feels that the medicine is not helping her and she failed to inform the admitting nurse. Hence after completion of treatment, I performed teaching via the interpretive system “Martti” about the essentials of complying with prescribed diet, exercise and medication for optimal outcome which would facilitate wound healing and prevent the risk of complications.
