Salinger, the author of The Catcher in the Rye, the main character Holden is struggling with society and he tends to make a lot of out of pocket decisions. The author strategically used this point of view to reveal the motives of Holden’s decisions and what drives him to do certain things. First person reveals things about Holden that would be impossible to do with third person point of view. It shows his thoughts, how his actions link to them, and things that first person makes easier to recognize.
