One of my colleagues constantly receiving and making excessive or lengthy personal phone calls during work hours and that has somewhere affecting her work performance. Some of the inpatient cases given to her for reviews have been already extended by two weeks and this has indirectly cost substantial loss to the Organization. Also, the use of cell phones, receiving and making calls during work hours is unprofessional and a violation of the Company’s policy.
Meet with the employee to clearly communicate Manager’s expectations regarding work productivity and to discuss the company’s policies with regards to personal calls and giving her a Company Policy Handbook. Lastly reinforce to her how utmost is today’s meeting and that you will be re-evaluated her work performance and the above issue by meeting with her again in thirty (30) days from today’s date to monitor progress if any!
Because I feel she is a valued employee, her supervisor and the Company should work with her on not only the stoppage of making personal phone calls; but also to work on a plan to see if there will be a change on her behavior. Sometimes people are doing things and they are not specifically aware of their behaviors and actions and how others are been affected by them.
By presenting her with the facts and effects about her personal calls and her job performance and the way they have been impacted her team morale and her department as a whole.
