In the recent past, use of the internet in health care provision has proved to be an important way in ensuring health care services are provided in an efficient and timely manner. Electronic health records are a version of information regarding a patient that is recorded and stored in a computerized system. Through such records, patient information can be easily accessed and followed up thus ensuring continuous patient care. It also ensures online communication where patients can be contacted by physicians using emails and other online communications (Romano & Stafford 2011). The personal health records contain details of any diagnoses made on the patient, medication and other treatment procedures given or scheduled to be given to the patient.
