People live where they do for many reasons. One of the most important is the temperature. The temperature is based on the latitude. The smaller the latitude number the warmer it will be because it is closer to the equator. “Taking the northern and southern hemispheres together, on average the world’s population lives 24 degrees from the equator.”

Since the weather gets colder the bigger the number of latitude it makes since most people live closer to the equator. Most people prefer warmer weather so they live close to the equator.
