With a snarling smile Beatty said, “Montag, Montag. I warned you so many times, but enough is enough. It’s your turn.
“Why? After all this time, why now?” Montag replied.
“You’ve been reported so many times, I could no longer ignore it!”
The door of Montag’s house swung wide open, Mildred and a young girl whose face was covered with a scarf walked out of the house. Mildred rushed over to Montag with open arms, she hugged him and slipped something in his pocket. She gave him a final glance and fled with the girl in the beetle.
Montag thought to himself, she does still care, she’s not just another one of the parlor wall characters.
