One year later on April 3rd Willempje gave birth to Cornelis Andreas Kooren, in the same town they were married in. The tree then went onto when Cornelis married Maria Schoonrok on August 31st, 1887, in Amsterdam, Holland. The two would have eight children while still in Holland and future two children they would have in America. On June 28th, 1910 the family would arrive in Ellis Island, for a three day processing period, after crossing the Atlantic Ocean aboard the S. S. RYNDAM. On July 1st, 1910 they would arrive in New York City, New York. The family would then arrive at the Belfield train station, on July 8th, 1910, along with 44 other Hollanders. The family would begin their new lives here in America by getting jobs at the Belfield Land & Investment Company, which later had the name changed to Holland-Dakota Land Company. Corkey was born on July 2nd, 1936 , South Heart, ND. Now this is where I would love to tell you about my grandfather and his life, but I honestly don’t know much about his life before he married my grandmother. However, I do know he grew up on and farm and was a bit a shyster when it came to gypsies, and that he did not meet his older brother until after World War II. Though I do know that the two met in high school and became high school sweethearts. My grandmother Shirley Townsend was born October 25th, 1936, in Custer, South Dakota. Though just like my grandfathers side my grandmother had a large family, though instead of three siblings Shirley had four. Shirley was the middle child in her family. Though her family was large they were not well off. My grandmother often remarked about house they lived in this shack of a house. Just like her two older siblings once she and Corkey were married they couple would get their own place. The reason for this was Shirley thought that it could help her parents and her siblings that if there was one less mouth to feed. The two would begin their life as a new couple on October 14th, 1955, in Inglewood, California. Two years after they began their life as married couple they would welcome their first son Martin James Borgman, born on June 9th, 1957.
