I cannot think of anything harder than to not know the whereabouts of someone you love. You are left thinking, are they mad at me? Are they ever coming home again? Was it your fault? Are they still alive? The questions roll silently through your head like thunder as you remember the last words you ever spoke to each other. Thousands of people go through the waiting, worrying and wondering every single day.
Course of Action: If you ever were to find yourself in the horrible situation of having a loved one vanish, it may seem as though you have very little recourse. First you could call the police and if enough time has passed they would be able to take a report from you, give it a case number and open it as a missing person’s case. You could then alert family, friends and neighbors. Groups of volunteers could be formed to canvas the area in which your loved one had last been seen. Fliers could be placed on windows, doors and poles throughout the town. If you were extremely lucky, and it was a slow news day, the local news may even run a 30 second blurb asking for any information concerning the missing person.
