Within this paper, readers will learn about my field experience while tutoring at Oasis. Readers will also learn about the history of Oasis and how the facility operates. I will be discussing what I have learned from tutoring these children and how I observed the interactions among the students and other tutors, myself included. I will then talk about the connections I have observed between Educational Psychology (EDUC 2130) and my field experience at Oasis. I will also be discussing how my field experience has or has not had an impact on my future teaching. This center stays alive through generous donations and a various number of volunteers and partnerships. They provide several services for the community, but the most important service is tutoring. This tutoring service is for children ages 3 (Pre-K) to 10-11 years old (fourth grade), Monday through Thursday. Most, if not all, of these children come from families of undocumented immigrants. Majority of these families in this community have moved from Mexico, but there are also other families who have come from Central and South America. Because these families have immigrated, most of them are of low income. They just barely make ends meet while trying to give their children lives that they dreamed of while in their home countries. Oasis has many other services that range from supplying families with gently used household items to throwing parties for children and/or parents to having monthly Masses. The mission statement for Oasis could not have been worded in a better way; "To build bridges of understanding, appreciation, and love among cultures, faith traditions, social statuses, and with God, fostering wholeness and holiness, thus bringing healing to people's hearts and peace to their relationships" (Oasis
