A SPECIFIC INCIDENT WHICH DEMONSTRATES TODAY’S PERFOMARNCE IN THIS AREA IS:

Cat#4. Field Performance: Non- stress conditions. Officer Mendiara was able to handle all dispatched calls for service at the level of a solo patrol Officer. This included radio traffic, obtaining information from reporting parties and choosing the correct dispositions of the calls.

A SPECIFIC INCIDENT WHICH DEMONSTRATES TODAY’S PERFOMARNCE IN THIS AREA IS:

Cat #5. Field Performance stress conditions. I observed a suspicious vehicle driving in the area of South Gate Avenue and Callan Boulevard. I directed Officer Mendiara to turn around and obtain the license plate for the vehicle. During this time the driver suddenly pulled into the parking lot of a closed church. Officer Mendiara continued driving past the vehicle and did not follow it into the parking lot. I then directed him to turn around again and follow the vehicle. Officer Mendiara needed improvement with his code 3 driving in respect to not attempting to pass vehicles on the right with his lights and sirens on. I corrected him at the time of the situation. I did not observe him make the same mistake during the rest of the response. I do not feel it will be an issue going forward. He drove in an acceptable manner during non-stress conditions, driving a speed appropriate for patrolling and was mindful of pedestrians and other vehicles.

Officer Mendiara navigated to several locations throughout the city without assistance from me. He responded in an appropriate amount of time and took a direct route to each location. This
