Fighting in the NHL is not good for the hockey players. Players tend to get severely injured due to the sport. Players are getting beaten up so badly to the point where they cannot even get up and walk off the ice to get help. Other players are dying from getting beaten so badly. Fighting in hockey should be banned due to the percentage of players who are getting injured, and even dying on the ice, but the NHL lets it happen because fighting ultimately brings in more viewers. These game-related injuries can lead to ruining a player’s NHL career. Fighting numbers increase over time. The fights happening every game is going to be unacceptable for the NHL. They are going to lose players as they already are. They are going to lose fans that also think fighting in hockey is not the best for the sport as players fighting everyday is not good for the sport as players are getting really hurt everyday. The NHL has started posting games on ESPN and YouTube to increase viewership and ratings. “These clips get significant attention with 6.2 million views per video, which undoubtedly contributes to expanding the NHL's fan base,” ProCon.org reports. However, this incentivizes the NHL to promote fighting more aggressively. Increased engagement leads to more views and higher revenue streams.
