My First Surgery I had always had problems with my knees from soccer, but it comes from playing the sport. About midway into my freshman year I got injured playing. I tore my meniscus, partially tore my ACL and tore my hip flexor. For weeks I just sat at home and moped. My grades dropped in school and I was still in pain everyday. One day I just got sick of this and knew I had to do something. I went to the doctor and I was told the best thing to do was to go to physical therapy. I didn’t really understand this because we knew what was wrong and I knew doing some exercises wasn’t going to heal my injury. After about 2 months and no progress I decided to stop the physical therapy and just try to continue my life. For about a year this worked. Some days I was fine and other days I was in agony. My parents set up another appointment with a different doctor. The first appointment I went to I immediately took a MRI. We were advised that the results would take about a day to come in. The next day my dad got a call from the doctor saying to come in and see the results. The results showed a very unhealed ACL and Meniscus. He said I needed to have surgery ASAP. The very next week I was in surgery. I had never had a surgery or been under anesthesia, so I was very nervous. It didn’t help that when the nurse tried to put in my IV that it took her 4 tries and both of my arms. I remember getting wheeled in to the operating room and speaking with the anesthesiologist, one second we were having a conversation and the next second I was waking up in my recovery room. I was relieved to not feel any pain, due to the amount of medication I was on. I believe they gave me a little to much on account that I stood up and walked to the car. Once I got home I was walking around and even drove to go get food. I was extreme surprised how painless this was. The next morning I was in severe pain. A pain like no other, and guess what? It was time to go to school. I had to present a project with a group and my teacher was adamant that if you miss your presentation you fail. My teacher was shocked to see me. She said you
