War is nothing new for us, it is so prevalent that its almost second nature to turn on the TV and hear or see something about the war depicted. Countries have been fighting and warring since the beginning of time, but on war will forever stand out as the one that would change the was the world would view all other wars. , This war was like no other we had seen before. The fact that almost every country had a hand in the fight was an unprecedented event. This event that before all was said and done, would involve over 32 independent nations would be known as the First World War.
The cause for the war was not a simple, black and white reason, it seems that there were a sting of events that took place that lead to the Great War. And most of the countries in Europe that were involved we only there to back their aligned countries. For example, long before the war took place a set of alliances were put in place. The following alliances existed:
Russia and Serbia
Germany and Austria-Hungary
France and Russia
Britain and France and Belgium
Japan and Britain
That being said when Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia, Russia in turn got involved to stand with their aligned nation of Serbia. Germany being aligned with Austria–Hungry saw that Russia was gearing up to back Serbia, decided to declared war on Russia. It became a free fall from there France declared war on Germany and Austria-Hungary. And Japan declared war on Germany to support their alliance with Britain Germany attacked France through Belgium forcing Britain to join in. you can easily see what a fast mess this had quickly become. It forced the hand of many other nations to take sides and form their own allegiances. When it came down to it there were two clear sides, the Allied Forces which consisted of, The British Empires, France, Italy, The United States, Russia and Serbia. The other side known as the Central Powers was made up of, Germany, Bulgaria, the Ottoman Empire (Turkey) and Austria-Hungry. That that just shows the domino effect of the aligned nations, but what really started the war? There seems to be a consensus that there were many things that factored in to it. One being, the need to control. At the time, these European, countries wanted notoriety and growth and what better way to do that then to take control over smaller countries, but what one wants many others want as well, so it became a game of power to see who would come out on top. If we take a deeper look, we see that a territory battle was a great part of the war, up until this point the people in Bosnia were considered part of Austrian- Hungry, But the want of the people to belong to Serbia instead triggered a power struggle, who would win these peoples allegiance? And in turn a larger nation. It may have been a small part in the beginning of this war, but as more and more countries fought for power and dominance over individuals and the lines and boundaries of their respective countries, the fire that was the war raged on with fuel added day by day.
Which then leads us in to the actual ability to fight and be successful. As the entire world progressed toward the 20th century, an arms race had begun. Both Germany and Great Britain had largely increased their military expanses in a very short time frame. Germany and Russia had rapidly upped their
