There are five types of criminal organizations ranging from traditional to modernized organized crime groups. The five types are: standard hierarchy, regional hierarchy, clustered hierarchy, core group and lastly criminal network. One of the most commonly seen forms of transnational criminal networks is a clustered hierarchy. Clustered hierarchy structure consists of organized crime groups that have learned to cooperate amongst themselves. One well known organized crime groups is Mexico’s Arellano-Felix Organization. Basically, a clustered hierarchy’s structure is composed of a series of small cells. So, there is one main leader ordering other criminal organization groups.
