Women have always changed depending on how life is around them. During World War 1, women got the opportunity to develop their independence skills and become the head of the household. This opportunity made women realize that they were capable of doing so much more than they thought they could. During the roaring twenties, people wanted to move by cherishing the little things and simply having fun. In World War 1, thousands of soldiers were killed which affected many families. People learned that life was very short and how anything could happen at anytime, so it was beneficial to live life to the fullest. Men would go out to party, drink, and dance with their friends while women would stay at home to take care of the house. The roaring twenties …show more content…
Also, fashion trends played an important role when it came to flappers because many women abandoned their old traditional clothing and wore new, trendy apparel that was usually advertised through commercials, magazines or posters. Although, there were some consequences associated with flappers. There were a number of arguments against the flappers about how they were a disgrace to society because all they did was party and smoke. Additionally, flappers weren’t given the same amount of respect compared to other women and were called evil and disturbing which made them feel guilty. Parents were forced to positively guide their children because the flappers were seen as a bad influence on the young. However, people did not support the flappers but also thought they were harmless. Despite the fact that flappers had to deal with many challenges during the twenties and thirties, there were numerous positive long terms effects that can be seen today.
