Frederick county, now known as Carroll county, is a small town north of Washington Dc. It is also where Francis Scott Key was born. Since it is a small and insignificant town, there is not much information specifically about the town.

In 1805, Francis Scott key’s family moved to Georgetown. There, he assisted his uncle “Philip Barton Key”, who was a prominent lawyer at the time, with many cases such as the conspiracy trial of Aaron Burr and the expulsion of senator John Smith. He made his first argument before the United States supreme court in 1807. Key went on to have 11 children that he was obliged to care for. Due to the British invasion of Washington D. C, Francis Scott Key joined the light artillery division to protect his country. He would later go aboard a ship and negotiate the freeing of 2 generals from the British. This is where Francis Scott Key witnessed the attack on Fort McHenry. In other words, Francis joining the army was the reason he got to see the inspiring sight at Fort McHenry and write the Famous United States anthem. Joining the War of 1812 changed him from an assistant lawyer to a well known poet, and
