There are many different ideas of freedom. I believe that freedom is the right to think and feel by oneself. Freedom can also be described as liberty. If everybody could do whatever they want whenever they want the world would be controlled by a bunch of crazy people. There are many things that constitute freedom, here are a few of them. One thing that is involved in freedom is having a common purpose. Everybody needs to be on the same page wanting the same things. President Franklin D. Roosevelt said in his “State of the Union Message to Congress”, that,”Each and every one of us has a solemn obligation under god to serve this nation in its most critical hour.” We all need to valiantly fulfill our responsibilities. In Learned Hand’s “I am an American Day Address he said, “We sought liberty-freedom from oppression, freedom from want, freedom to be ourselves.” Everybody says they want freedom but do they mean rights or freedom for everybody for everybody to do anything all the time. President Reagan said, “Freedom is the right to question and change the established way of doing things. It is the continuing revolution of the marketplace. It is the understanding that allows us to recognize shortcomings and seek solutions. It is the right to put forth an idea, scoffed at by the experts, and watch it catch fire among the people. It is the right to dream-to follow your dream or stick to your conscience, even if you’re the only one in a sea of doubters. Freedom is the recognition that no single person, no single authority or government has a monopoly on the truth, but that every individual life is infinitely precious, that everyone of us put on this world has been put there for a reason and has something to offer.” Can we say we think this way? Learned Handel also said, “The spirit of liberty remembers that not even a sparrow falls to the earth unheeded.” This is how we all should be remember this concept because we will all want it for ourselves
