What is your favorite zoo animal? How many times did you take a field trip with your classmates or family adventure to the zoo? Seeing your favorite animal at the zoo was such a thrill, but what if one day they were gone? Consequently, many people think it is inhumane or not right to keep animals in captivity. Some people believe that zookeepers or workers do not treat animals the way they should. They want to stop zoos from keeping animals in captivity. Moreover, having animals in zoos is not bad at all and actually has many benefits, such as keeping certain endangered species from going extinct, offering a fun way to explore and learn about animals and many more reasons. Hunters will kill animals for their fur, meat, ivory, or for sport. Zoos are protecting the animals and keeping them away from the hunters. Keeping animals in zoos keeps endangered species from going extinct. There are over one thousand different species in zoos right now being kept to be bred. Their zookeepers are sure to keep their exhibits as close to the animal’s natural environment as possible making them as comfortable as can be in their new home.
However, what happens when an animal is taken from it’s natural home, kept to be a domestic pet and the owner can’t take care of it in it’s “new home”? Zoos! The zoo's take the exotic animals that people can’t handle and make them part of their exhibit in a more natural environment.
Zoos are a great place to go to for entertainment and to learn some new things, no matter how old you are. No one wants to read out of a book or on the internet about animals when you can experience it in real life. According to www.statisticbrain.com/zoo-statistics/ around one hundred and seventy-five million people visit zoos every year in the United States, more than half of the population. You can do so many interactive things with the animals in zoos too, like feed the large animals food, hold little animals in a petting zoo area, and sometimes you can take a ride on an animal around the area. Some zoos put up signs around the exhibits telling people what that species eats, their natural habitat, predator and/or prey and so on.
