My freshman year was a disaster and still in the back of my mind today. During middle school, I got straight A’s and perfect conduct. I thought I could do the same thing in high school. I never studied and did my homework at the last minute, but I always paid attention and kept notes so I got by. My older brother and middle school teachers told me that if I didn’t get more organized and study high school that I’d be in trouble. Being the ignorant freshman, I didn’t take them seriously and decided to figure it out on my own. Freshman year came around and I learned so hard lessons. First semester, I got a D in biology and 3.375 GPA and I thought I would I’ll do better next semester. Second Semester, I got two C’s in biology and Geometry Pre AP and earned a 3.5 GPA. It wasn’t until my brother came and talked to me about the future that I realized that I am not on the right path. He wasn’t the smartest or in the advance classes, but no matter what the level of class he got an A in each class. He was coming back from college that summer, and he looked at my grade and said these aren’t good enough. He was right a 3.4 GPA can’t get me into any good college in Texas. So I evaluated myself and came to the conclusion that if something didn’t change then I will only be mediocre. So I took soccer more seriously and joined a club team. To help me in school I wrote a goal that only one B is acceptable. If I can’t maintain that goal then I would quit club soccer but luckily I did more than I thought I could do. First semester, All A’s and one B but the most important thing that happen is that I got a 96 in regulars chemistry and the teachers push me to Pre-AP Chemistry the next semester.
