Everyone participates in physical activities, whether it's competitive swimming or just a pickup game of basketball. And, because there are so many to choose from, not everyone plays the same way. Age and gender are major factors in activity people may chose to do. But, what about cultural differences? I have found that a person's culture has an impact on which physical activities individuals participate in to stay healthy.
The first person I interviewed was sixteen years old and very active.This person is Hispanic and plays soccer. They chose soccer because it was a sport he was very familiar with and he liked the social aspect of it as well. This first person enjoyed playing a sport that interacted with other people, one you could make friendships in while becoming more active together.
The second person I interviewed was 26 and female. This person is Caucasian and very active, they participate in yoga. They like the strength and flexibility it gives them. This person likes being alone and being able to relax and clear their mind.
Choosing to participate in a activity by themselves, as opposed to a team sport or activity. The third person I interview was 50 years old, male, and africanamerican. This person cycles, they are very active and enjoys cycling in a group. They chose to cycle because it is easier for someone of an older age, and this person enjoys both the social
interaction and alone time. They have made friendships because of it, and also uses cycling to have their alone time in.
