“G’s up or Freeze up” is a saying by Gangster Disciples. This group of majority black men and woman is an organization that in the early days of its rise was for positivity. But drugs got involved and that how the hurtful acts stupidity started to kick in. But these members are a part and affiliated with the Folk Nation. This organization started in the 1960’s. Larry Hoover and David Backsdale were the founders. The membership is over is over 600,000 member strong. But I will say that more than half of them are wannabes because its looks cool. As we look in today’s society, gangs make you feel like somebody. Gangster Disciples is one of the toughest gangs in the world. In like around 2013, most original gang members taught the members about Growth and Development and label that as the blue print of the organization. It’s basically, tried to stop some of the violence and build up the community. The colors are blue, black, and white. They are usually represented with a bandana which is in the back pocket on the right side. The other names are GD, G and Ds, Folks, Bos, G, Brothers of the Struggles, GDN, S.O.S., Growth and Development and many more. The organization has tons of saying and things of that nature. For example, they have a pledge. They also have a prayer. They are under the six point star and the 6 individual’s points on it mean Love, Loyalty, Life, Understanding, Knowledge, and Wisdom. Their handshakes are very unique. Some GD’s put a black bandana on their mirror in the car which they call that “The Black Flag.” The pitch fork is represented with the thumb and the index finger shaped like a c and your middle finger goes straight through the C, and the rest of the fingers are pointing down.
