Genetic modification is the combining of genes to create new organisms. While this could have benefits like, increasing crops in size and giving them more nutritional value, it can have its downfalls by having a growth of allergic reactions and with no economic value, its pointless in changing the natural form. It should not be used in foods, because of the safety of people and the consequences it may later on have.

Studies show that food allergies increase over time by the genetic foods. This is one of the most safety hazards. "Public awareness and concern about food allergens is growing. Concerns about food allergens have become linked to the application of biotechnology to produce genetically engineered crops and has resulted in many regulatory proposals and regulations."(Herman). Even though many people want to raise public awareness about the allergies, there are still a vast number of people who are oblivious to the fact that, that particular food is generic.

Another reason that this isn't a great idea is because there is no economic value between natural food and generic foods. "GMO foods take just as long to mature and take just as much effort to grow, meaning that there is no real economic value to growing GMO foods when compared to non-GMO foods. (Pros and Cons of

"Through the modification of foods, the flavors can be enhanced. Peppers can become spicier or sweeter. Corn can become sweeter. Difficult flavors can become more palatable. (Pros and Cons of Genetically Modified Foods). All natural foods die or expire. Its the way of life, that's how we know for sure that, that product is real. If we have an item in the fridge for more than expected, how are we going to know when it actually turned bad? Would we have to taste it one day and find out in a horrible way? There is an guarantee that nobody would like to go through that
