Different peoples and cultures tell the same story differently and emphasize various aspects of the same thing. This applies to the flood story as it is told in Gilgamesh and the Bible, especially in the way deity is represented. In Gilgamesh, the Gods seem rather childish, whereas the God of the Bible, acts more as a father figure.

In Gilgamesh, the Gods seem to be concerned only with themselves. Once the flood has happened, one of the Gods decides it was a bad idea and asks how she could have spoken to the other Gods in a way which caused such destruction (Gilgamesh, XI).
