The South, a region in the U.S where life is much simpler and very different compared to the North. In the years the South has been in many wars which have led to the seceding of many states and many corrupt events from the idea of slavery to the Klu Klux Klan. Throughout these times writing has always been there to interpret the atmosphere and the worldview of the south from the good times to the bad.

In the story, the character Tom Robinson has been put on trial for raping a white girl but he didn't do it. Atticus Finch a local lawyer and a single father to Scout and Jem. In the South, racism is a major problem sadly Tom wasn't given a fair trial but Atticus never gave up. In the book, we actually see kind and genuine country people. These people actually care for each other even though they don't always agree with everything. In Maycomb, there are many people from different lives and Atticus made a really good quote “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view... Until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it.” The life in Maycomb is so much different than life in "Good Country People" it's more positive and uplifting.
In the end we discover the in depth meanings of these Southern literatures. From their differences and similarities in how they view everyday life. These stories help us interpret how greatly the south has changed and how the rural south has many different types of literature some “Grotesque or Gothic” these styles of writing can change the world view of its
