“There is a difference between people who are smart and people who get good grades.” This quote is far too true. Having a grading scale makes it harder for most students to keep a steady good grade. Not having a good grade does not mean the student is not smart, it may just be the way they are graded. Grading on a final project would allow students to express creativity, it shows a combination of what was learned, and allows more time to get things done. Therefore, having to create an ending project allows each kid to show their creativity. I believe everyone has a creative side to them, even if they don’t know it. Many people struggle taking a test on all the information they have learned that year. The reason they might not do as well on it is because they memorize it for quizzes and then just forget it. This project would require the students to keep their brains fresh with all the information they learned. In the end, the finale should be a huge puzzle of what the student has learned from the class. Lastly, the project allows you to have time to get it done. Being a busy teenager sometimes makes it hard to find time for homework. I know I struggle because of work and sports. The project would give students time to make a plan and succeed in completing it. I think it will encourage students to be excited about there work and accomplishment. This final project will result in a very detailed and amazing piece of work. In counter argument, some may believe having a grading scale might be more effective toward students. I can see where they might think a weighted scale might be better for their grade but if they work hard and diligently on their project they won't have to worry on anything less than an above average
