Career Issue Rough Draft Imagine walking into a movie theater; you see all of the large movie posters hanging on the walls, advertising the newest films. These posters are seen a countless amount of times on any given day. Now, imagine that what you see is your work displayed that all of these people are admiring each day. Graphic web designers, amongst many other things, design artwork used to represent a multitude of different companies, franchises, products, etc, through the use of computer technology. To start the day off, most graphic designers go into a design firm or studio space. They first usually check their emails for messages from coworkers or clients. During their busy day, graphic designers may meet with their clients to understand the direction and vision of that particular project. Graphic designers work on various projects at once. Once a project is finally completed, it will be posted to a shared file system for the client to review. As the day comes to a close, the designers take time to make certain that their work is properly backed up. After this is done, they may begin to plan for the next day of work ahead (“A Typical Day” 1-2). In order to be a successful, a graphic designer must sustain web presence. They must also maintain presence in multiple design communities of the web; this provides a great source of inspiration and information. Also, it allows them to see what their competition is up to at all times. Networking is extremely important (“Four Critical Ways” 1-2). Designers use tools like Instagram, VSCO, and their very own websites to maintain a presence online. These tools allow for them to not only showcase their own work, but to keep up on the quality of work that their competition is producing. Being three steps ahead of the competition is a huge deal in graphic web design. If they produce works that are better quality and more widely accepted than that of your own, it is likely you will be put out of business. Relevancy plays a key role in the success of designs. Nobody wants to see last week's old designs; it is about the now. There is speculation as to what designs people can expect to see in modern times and into the near future. One of these design techniques is the use of geometric shapes, lines, and patterns. As well as being aesthetically pleasing, these techniques are nearly infinite when it comes to how they can be put into use. Another technique is the increased use of GIFs and animations. Animations help to more efficiently communicate ideas rather than just words.
