I think he feels very confident in what he’s gonna do. But then suddenly his mood sorta changes when there on the boat his mood sorta changes to more of scared type. When his friend goes to bed he wants to go have a cigar to I guess calm him down. When he falls off the yacht his mood changes to a more a tired person because he’s been swimming for awhile. Once he reaches where he wanted to go he seems very scared to actually. More towards the end he builds up confidence.
2. List TWO details from the story that create this mood.
One detail is he couldn’t fall asleep for a few nights when he finds a little town he knocks on a door and a person named general Zaroff opens …show more content…
What might this mood and the sailors’ dread foreshadow?
The mood shows when people are sailing they all try to avoid the one island because they all have a fear of that island. When Rainsford finally found an island he swam to the island that every sailor has a fear of. I don’t think he knew until he actually started to look around. The island I think is crused and that's why all the sailors avoid it because there may be bad luck if you say to that one island.
4. What is the setting of this story?
The setting off the story there are few. In the beginning of the story he is on his yacht. Then he falls of his yacht and swims the island. Which he actually doesn’t know it's the sailor's island where they all try to avoid. Then he’s in the little town where General Zaroff lived. Then he was in General Zaroff’s castle where he has a room for a few nights. Until he turns up in the forest for one night to see if he is brave enough because General Zaroff wanted to test him to see if he was a tough …show more content…
Trap 3: I forget the other one but it is like a tree spring thing.
10. What is the climax, or the moment of greatest intensity in the story?
I think the best moment is when Rainsford wins because he was proving he was stronger then Zaroff thought. When Zaroff said that Rainsford couldn’t do it, but he did do it. After Rainsford shot General Zaroff he went and slept in the bed at the castle and he had never slept better before. I think when he slept in the bed I feel like something happened after that little thing.
11. The last line of the story reads, “He had never slept in a better bed, Rainsford decided.” what has happened? How has the story ended?
(This is not directly stated by the author and must be inferred by the reader.)
The story ended with him winning his battle or his challenge he went back to the little town to the castle to get some sleep. When he won his challenge he said that he wanted a sleep from a long battle and he went to the castle and slept. What i think it is inferring is that he might be known as the general now because he has one and I think everyone wanted general dead because he was rude to everyone he talks to or if they work for
