Greg wrote this book based on his journey of fundraising, planning, and building the school in Korphe. He talks about the conflicts he faced while trying to do this, and how he was successful in the end. In Three Cups Of Tea, Greg Mortenson said, "That night, for the first time since starting my work in Pakistan, I thought about quitting. I expected something like this from an ignorant village mullah, but to get those kinds of letters from my fellow Americans made me wonder whether I should just give up." (275). This quote is about the doubt Greg had when he first began to work in Pakistan. Because of the difficulties he had to face Greg regretted his work many times. Although he wanted to quit, Greg pushed through and built the school. Three Cups of Tea was written about the process of building a school, and how just one school impacted a whole community. The village of Korphe had nothing for education before the school was built. Greg calls this the first step to stop terrorism.
