Group Health Insurance Plans are plans that accommodate coverage for healthcare to a selected group of people. These plans are one of the major benefits offered by employers to their employees. These plans usually offer the same benefits to all employees. They also provide this insurance for members of the group. Some of these group health insurance premiums may differ in different states.
The first health insurance plans that were created were sold during the civil war. These plans covered accidents that were caused by traveling by boats or trains. The first group policy with more coverage was created in 1847, in the state of Massachusetts. While these health insurance were around illness policies weren’t introduced until the year 1890.
Group health insurance has many pros and cons. Some pros are group health premiums are subsidized by the employers, these premiums are the same for large and small families, this health insurance in most states is guaranteed, almost all of these group health insurance plans cover maternity. When group health premiums are subsidized by the employer, the employer has to help the employee with at least 50% of that premium. In the United States the total amount is $5,832, the employee pays $1,234 and the employer pays $4,598. In Arkansas the total is $4,846, the employee pays $958 and the employer pays $3,888. Which makes it the lowest group health insurance in the whole 52 states. Group health insurance is an employer based insurance. It covers all of the workers. Health status doesn’t matter to the type of insurance. It can’t be cancelled if the worker is sick or becomes sick. They offer COBRA insurance if they quit their job and they also get COBRA insurance if they are fired. Cobra insurance gives them from 18 to 36 moths of
