Gun Violence: Ever thought of the good and the bad sides of having a gun in your possession? While guns present inherent risks as potential instruments of harm, they also offer benefits such as self-defense and recreational use. To mitigate the negative consequences associated with gun ownership, comprehensive precautions including background checks, safe storage requirements, and enhanced mental health support must be implemented to effectively reduce gun violence in society. While there are good and bad reasons for owning a gun, they do more harm than good.

Some would say owning guns is only a bad thing, but there are a few reasons why owning a gun is a good thing. In an article online, it stated that many lives were saved due to guns. During a recent hearing, Republican Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona said: "The Department of Justice under the Democratic administration has done their studies and conservatively estimated that guns are used 1.5 million times per year to save lives." The wrong person having a gun could lead to many bad things, including school shootings or any shootings in general. In another article online, it talks about the Robb Elementary school shooting. “May 24, 2022, saw one of the deadliest shootings at an elementary school since our loved ones were murdered at Sandy Hook more than 10 years ago ripping apart over a dozen more families. This is the real, human toll of inaction. That’s why our work cannot stop. We cannot slow down. Too many precious lives are at risk if we do”. In Uvalde, Texas, there was a deadly shooting that took 19 students ages ranging from 9 to 11 and also took 2 teachers' lives who died protecting their students.
