Now I will go into a version of security that I think is completely wrong. A form of security that some people would want to enforce is arming teachers with guns. According to the Colorado Office of School Security, “President Trump embraced a proposal to arm teachers as a way to prevent further mass shootings in schools. His support for the idea, which had been proposed by the National Rifle Association, invigorated a nationwide debate over whether the people educating children should also bear the responsibility of wielding firearms to protect them,” (Guns in Schools). In general, arming teachers can be a good idea with good training. A teacher has easy access to a weapon to defend their classroom and their children. But there are many downfalls that are extremely bad and can lead to a worse situation. I will explain why in two ways. The first way is that it’s a good way to get access to a gun in the classroom. As explained by the non-profit gun safety organization Everytown for Gun Safety, “Having guns in the classroom increases the likelihood that a student will access a gun and that someone will be shot outside of an active shooter incident.” (Stop Arming
