Guns are dangerous weapons, they aren’t toys; they are weapons that children don’t know the difference from a toy. Fingerprint recognition has been constantly rejected and opposed by the National Rifle Association. The NRA claim that these so called ‘Smart Guns’ can never be foolproof, but neither are normal guns either. Magazine failures are common, and if the chance of a Smart Gun failure is less than one of a normal gun, why is the technology so bad? They also argue that it individuality of usage is bad, other innocents can’t use it to save other lives. However, what is to say that the bad guy or a child gets their hands on a Smart Gun? Neither of them can use it, everyone is safe. Lastly, hacking and surveillance possibilities are other concerns, criminals are not likely to carry a jammer or any technology that could hack something like a Smart Gun. Guns make killing easy, a simple pull of a trigger, there is so much power in the flex of a finger. And that power is often wanted by the mentally ill, those who wish harm upon others and fathers and mothers who wish to protect their children. The intention of these people matters. The intention of a mother is very different from the one of a vengeful ex-boyfriend. The brady background checks are crucial to ensuring that guns don’t get into violent hands, instead into capable ones. These checks must be at gun shows and online. The control on guns does need to be tightened. People on the no-fly list can get guns, people get on the no-fly list because they may be suspected to be related to terrorism. A possible terrorist should not be able to get his or her hands on a gun, the change and implementation of federal wide mandatory background checks would make America a safer place. In fact, ninety-one percent of all Americans, both republicans and democrats agree with these background checks.
