In Guns, Germs, and Steel the author Jared Diamond aims to demonstrate and support his knowledge and research about human development by stating that the differential development of our society is not due to the intelligence of different people themselves but to the difference in their environment and geographical factors. The main focus of the book is to find a response to a question asked to Diamond by "Yali" a local politician from New Guinea which asked why "white people" (Eurasians) had developed more than them "black people" (New Guineans".

The understanding obtained from Diamond in this book was the implication that Eurasians (Europeans and Asians) dominance was not about intelligence for success but luck in regards to their geography which resulted in an advantage against others. Eurasians location helped in important benefits lie cultural exchange to which other countries did not have it as easy. Eurasia had a great variety of animals and plants that could be domesticated to be exchanged. Not to say that North America and other countries did not have animals that could probably have been domesticated but the hunters in them for food made regions lose any chance at domesticating animals for an exchange that could have brought more chances of having a storage of food which would have resulted in growth for their society. …show more content…
