The fictional character, Harry Potter, from J.K. Rowling’s novel, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, follows one of the common standards found in Mythology, The Hero’s Journey. This standard was discovered by Joseph Campbell in his novel, The Hero with a Thousand Faces. The Hero’s Journey consists of three major parts, the Departure, the Initiation, and the Return. The Departure is when the hero begins in a normal life from which some information is received that acts as a call to head off into an adventure. The Initiation is a series of test or trials that the Hero has to undergo to begin the transformation . The Return is when the Hero has to decide between returning to the “ordinary” world. In Harry
