Once the threshold of maximum, minimum number of Medicaid insured participants are met, a physician then can refrain from accepting new patients that are insured by Medicaid. However, developing a meaningful estimate for expected savings across the entire US health care system may be too difficult ―and certainly not an estimate for which one can budget (Andel, Davidow, Hollander, & Moreno, 2012). Boosting preventative care initiatives, reduces the overall long-term cost of healthcare. Implementation of the bundled payment program is one method that has provided a goal for healthcare institutes to achieve, quality care and be financially rewarded for maintaining the public’s health, as opposed to being financially rewarded for every encounter. This movement placed financial sharing onto the hospitals, creating the financial incentive to provide quality over quantity, lifting a financial burden within the state. The concept that once the bundled payment system, if fully implemented, both hospitals and physicians would share a single payment for services. Uprising from this reform across the state is, job and educational opportunities, not only within the confinements of Lackawanna County but, the entire state from the cost saving strategies.
