Health Family Tree Assessment Understanding one’s family health history can be used to help build a road-map towards your future well-being. Predispositions to health behaviors themselves are genetic and these behaviors are also influenced socially by our family members (Gurung, 2023). Through conversations with family members and some research, I have dived into my own family health history. This has allowed me to assess my individual health risks and vulnerabilities and create a plan to be able to live my healthiest life. Most importantly, I will start to take my mental health seriously. While I am currently on medication, I have not been seeing a therapist for some time and have fallen out of practice with activities I use for stress relief, including meditation, journaling, and exercise. I think having a visual aid to keep track of these healthy habits will be helpful to me, especially when I need reminders or motivation due to my ADHD. Finally, I want to be more mindful of my alcohol use, if not stop drinking altogether because of all of the related health risks. The text informed me that nearly half of all college students are binge drinkers and there is no “safe” level of alcohol consumption (Gurung, 2023). I have previously used an app to track alcohol use, and I will continue to do so. Overall, this activity has been very eye opening for me. One thing I noticed was how much being low income has impacted my family’s health, by limiting the access to doctors as well as the ability to maintain a stable, healthy diet or find time for exercise. Health was not prioritized in my family, although there was so
