Health Information Technology is one of the most important aspects of Healthcare. Health information has been growing for the past few years and continues to advance in different aspects. Health IT has allowed medical records and communication of Medical Records to occur in a convenient and accessible manner within physicians and other healthcare employees. New technology and system advancements have been taking place in the Health Information Industry. The common trends in Health IT are Cloud Computing, Security, and Privacy Issues and Interoperability.

According to TEM Journal, "SaaS includes different web applications with functions similar to traditional office tools including Gmail, Google and such" (). SaaS is also accessible from any location, not just at the employer site. Platform as a service (PaaS) is a service that "includes development and research tools in the cloud" (). PaaS provides easy access to applications and is obtainable on the internet. Lastly, Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) provides hardware infrastructure such as networks, server, storage and much more. Comparing the three models, all are connected and function dependently from each other. Cloud Computing in the Healthcare industry has its advantages and disadvantages. Some of the advantages include cost savings, flexibility, maintenance, innovation and multiple users at the same time. According to BMC, there are several reasons as to why interoperability problems exist. The first reason is, interoperability isn't friendly to every information systems. In cases where information systems are not able to exchange information; fax, scan, or email is an option of delivering medical records. This delivery method causes disorganization and jeopardy of delivering error-filled information. In cases where the information system is interoperable, there is a possibility of inadequacy.
