Healthy People 2010 Initiative There is an abundance of research and data which supports the positive impact of physical activity and the role of physical fitness in health promotion, mental health, emotional health, and holistic well-being. This has prompted an increase in the reliability and impact physical activity has on the health of the United States population. According to the Centers for Disease and Health control, in 2010, an agenda promoting health and avoidance of illnesses was launched (2011). The timeline to accomplish these objective goals was one decade (2000-2010). A variety of sources, both government departments and non-governmental organizations, were utilized to collect data for the purpose of increasing the health status of the American citizens (“Healthy People 2010,” 2011). Physical Activity is pertinent to maintain and/or improve health of the American people no matter their age or if they are with a disability or chronic disease. For adults, physical activity aids in lowering risk for brain attacks, metabolic disorders such as diabetes mellitus, and cellular regulation disorders such as cancers, falls, depression, elevated blood pressure, coronary heart disease, and early death. An increase in bone health, cardiorespiratory/muscular fitness, concentration, and cognitive skills are the results of physical activity in teens and the elementary aged populations. Physical activity also helps to lower body fat and depression symptoms. There are positive and negative factors associated with both adolescents and adults in physical activity (“Physical Activity - Objectives,” n.d.). According
