Hemophilia Imagine if you were born without being able to play sports and do other things kids are able to do? Some people are born with a rare blood disease called Hemophilia and is an everyday life struggle. Hemophilia is a medical condition in which gives blood the ability to clot and is severely reduced making slight cuts severe. This is a disease passed on by genes and its genetic makeup is affected by it. It is caused when there is a defect in one of the clotting factor genes that lies on the X chromosome. In this research paper I will be talking about Hemophilia, its symptoms, its treatments, and the facts about the people that are diagnosed with Hemophilia. Hemophilia is a really rare disease, but if diagnosed, it can really affect …show more content…
During birth if there is prolonged bleeding after a male child is circumcised and bleeding into the muscles, it is a high risk that the child has Hemophilia. Other symptoms can occur after birth to determine if the person has Hemophilia later on in their lives. The way people characterize Hemophilia and its symptoms is excessive bleeding and easy bruising. When someone has Hemophilia, the main symptoms stand out pretty easily, but others aren’t so easy to point out right away. Many people with Hemophilia seem to find blood in their urine and deep big bruises on their bodies. Others tend to have the more serious symptoms because some symptoms can be internal as well. Hemophilia makes it easier for joints to swell up and cause bleeding in their muscles. The most severe symptom is when a person bumps their head slightly and cause the brain to bleed rapidly. This can cause headaches, dizziness, blurry vision, or even more severe; seizures. These are the main symptoms that most people get with Hemophilia but can be other symptoms of it also. Hemophilia has many severe symptoms that can determine life or death in many …show more content…
It’s a really severe disease that no scientist has been able to solve but are still in the race to find a solution. There are many treatments for people with this disease. They have managed to find little treatments that can control the bleeding and try to better the person in health the most they can. Back then people only had limited treatment for Hemophilia which was a whole new blood or frozen plasma. However the treatments have improved throughout the years and now there can even be self treatments. One of the self treatments is Tranexamic acid by mouth also known as Lysteda or by injection known as Cyklokapron. There is also replacement therapy, which is replacing or giving of clotting factors that the patient is missing. Clotting factors can be taken by injection or even intravenously. Maybe one day scientist can find a cure to this disease, but to this very day there are only treatments that can help the patient live a normal life to a certain
