Herpes in the United States

In this day and age the global community has been victim to many airborne pathogens and viral infections. Humanity has come together to help cure some of these microbial agents but some remain elusive at complete eradication but due to the scientific success in the medical field some of these diseases are forced into submission with proper care and drug administration. A viral disease that has been so blatantly overlooked to the point that so many individuals are unaware that they are possible carriers is the Herpes Simplex virus. After this initial breakout the mental stress that can be associated after is very high in those that have received psychological treatment due to the fact that this virus has no cure and is attracted for the duration of the individual’s life. The virus has its prominence in that underlying fact. Those with Herpes and remain sexually active (HSV-2), or those who unknowingly share different objects or utensils for the mouth (HSV-1) pass the viral antigen quickly and effectively. Specifically, from the statistics acquired from the online database on the World Health Organization website “About one out of five people in the United States has genital herpes.”( WHO1) It is also estimated that 85% of people with genital herpes continue their daily motions without any knowledge that they are proliferating the Herpes virus. Other statistics state that in the United States alone “About 25% of women have genital herpes. That’s one in four”. (Tronstein1)In accordance with that statistics “About 20% of men have genital herpes. That’s one in five.” (Tronstein2) From these stats it can be concluded that there are nearly fifty million Americans that carry the virus diagnosed and that there are nearly forty million Americans who are carrying it
