Oral herpes is one of the most common type of the herpes virus. With this type of herpes, individuals develop a cold sore on their lips. Symptoms also include a sore throat, swollen lymph nodes in the neck area, and sometimes a mild fever.
Once the herpes blister appears, they normally break open and begin leaking fluid, then eventually crust over. This process can last anywhere between two to twenty-four days.
Canker sores are similar to the blisters that develop on the outside of the lips but these occur inside the mouth. A herpes canker sore can appear in the roof of the mouth or on the gum line.
