Historical Events Affecting The American Constitution

Many historical events can be identified as affecting the American Constitution. One of those events is the American Civil War in which eleven states seceded from the US to from the Confederate States. After four years of fighting, the Union was victorious. Soon a reconstructionist government would form that ended up making multiple changes to the constitution. First, the government ratified the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments. These amendments abolished slavery, granted slaves citizenship and gave them the right to vote. Although it might not be the most moral way to change the constitution, war is definitely an effective way. Another event that affected the American Constitution was the National Woman's Party protests. From January to June
