The History of Photography In modern society, the camera is a well advanced piece of technology and not many know of how the camera came to be how it is today. Peeling back the layers of how modern technology advanced over the years for the camera, photography became very popular during the Victorian Era. Photography became a popular sensation across Europe as young aspiring artist tried to learn the skill and create something unique of their own. Taking a look into the history of photography, people would come to realize that the general skill is a beautiful art form. Daguerre began experimenting from his fascination with the effects of light upon translucent paintings in the early 1820s. Later in the 1820s, Daguerre’s work opened doors to the art world that revolutionized the way we can “capture imagination.” In Daguerre's work, his technique was focused on the images that is processed onto a sheet of silver-plated copper. Daguerre then polished the silver and coated it in iodine, creating a surface that is sensitive to the light. In the next process, Daguerre puts the plate into a camera and exposes it for a few minutes. After the image was painted by the light, Daguerre bathed the plate in a solution of silver chloride. This process created a lasting image, one that would not change if it was exposed to light.
